Tweed Shire Integrated Response to Domestic and Family Violence Committee
The Tweed DVIRC website is designed for Human Service Workers in the Tweed Shire to provide information, resources and services in a central and accessable location that maybe helpful when assisting or supporting an individual or family affected by domestic and family violence.
This website is an initiative of the Tweed Shire Integrated Response to Domestic and Family Violence Committee. The Tweed DVIRC website is one of the Committee’s “Safe Communities” stategies.
The Committee gratefully acknowledges the funding from the Department of Family and Community Services NSW, Community Services under the Community Builders Program.
Current Strategies
The Tweed DVIRC Safe Communities Project received funding for a number of initiatives from the Community Builders Funding Program in late 2010 to develop and deliver several strategies that will contribute to achieving the goals of the DVIRC.
The Tweed Shire Women's Service is the auspice for the DVIRC Safe Communities Project.
Tweed DVIRC Safe Communities Project will employ a worker/consultant to:
- Develop a multi agency response which uses common standards and practices to identify
and support victims of domestic and family violence including a high risk management strategy; - Develop and deliver community education campaigns and school based relationship education programs;
- Provide specialised Domestic Violence training for human service workers;
- Support and build effectiveness of DVIR committee to ensure ongoing sustainability
Intended Results of Project
- Increased Safety of victims of domestic violence and their children;
- Instil awareness and confidence in victims to seek support;
- Young people to have respectful and safe relationships;
- Reduce secondary victimisation and co-ordinate service system responses.
