Tweed Shire Women’s Service is committed to the elimination of violence against women and children. We have many services which help women living in, escaping or recovering from domestic violence.

Our services include:

Support Workers: Workers are available most days to assist women who drop in or call to access information and support. Support workers are able to provide you with referrals and emotional support.

Crisis Support Counselling: Support, counselling and information is available by appointment for women requiring individual support for a crisis in their lives including domestic violence.

Support Groups: We provide a variety of support groups including support groups for women who have left refuge accommodation, groups for women living in abusive relationships, general support groups and a variety of parenting support groups.

Resource Centre: We provide a women’s only space for women to access free internet, library, information, resources, or just a quiet place to relax. Women are able to access free internet, phone, fax and photocopying. Support workers are available for women seeking assistance. We have an extensive library which has a wide variety of books many of which target domestic violence. Books are free to borrow.

Refuge Accommodation: We provide refuge accommodation for women and children in crisis as a result of domestic violence. Referrals to refuge can be made 24 hours through the domestic violence crisis line on 1800 65 64 63 (NSW or 1800 811 811 (QLD) or by contacting our resource centre during office hours.

External Supported Refuge Accommodation: We offer women and children in crisis as a result of domestic violence a safe and supportive environment where they can consider their options and make informed choices. External Supported Refuge Accommodation provides medium term accommodation in furnished houses and flats within the Tweed region for women and children escaping domestic violence. External Supported Refuge Accommodation is provided for women who have been residing in refuge accommodation either within our service or another.
